An elderly man and his wife recently got new cell phones...
The elderly couple have the phones that talk to you when you receive a text, email, etc. An automated voice sounded one day and said, "You've got mail!"
The elderly man thought this to be strange, but sent his wife to the post office to get their mail anyways. She arrived home a short time later and complained, "We have no mail, honey!"
Well, this puzzled the man. Several times after, the same automated voice would sound. "You've got mail!" Time and again, the man would send his wife to the post office to check for new mail. Every time, the story was the same. "Honey, we have no mail."
Well, this really started frustrated the elderly couple. So, the man calls up his son and asks him to please help him solve this problem. "Dad, I think there's been a misunderstanding. You remember I showed you how to text people from your phone?"
"Well yes," came the elderly man's voice.
"That's what the 'you've got mail' is for. It's notifying you that you've got a text on your phone, not at the post office."
"Oh, I see. Thanks, Son! I appreciate your help."
"It's not a problem, Dad," the son replied, hiding the bubbling laughter inside.
So, the elderly man goes along, happy to have solved the problem. He now believes he has it all figured out... Except there's a problem...
The elderly man now thinks he is receiving his mail that used to come at the post office... on his phone.
You've gotta love the elderly, folks.
This is classic. Yes, it is true, submitted by one of our very faithful readers! Names are left unsaid to protect innocence. Please don't ask either. :-)
